UTICA-IL- Stephanie Daughebaugh, MISS ILLINOIS Galaxy, will share her love of country music by counting the ballots at the Colgate Country Showdown competition next Tuesday, June 26. The weekly event, which takes place on the veranda of Starved Rock Lodge, gives local vocalists a chance to compete for the local title and capture a chance to advance to the national competition later this year. The grill opens at 5 p.m., and promptly at 7 p.m.; WALS-102-FM's host "Cowboy" welcomes guests and performers to each of the five weeks of competition.

In the first week of competition, soloist Kim Taylor, of Streator and vocal trio "Ace", a group that emerged from the Marsall-Putnam-Stark Show Choir, were the two chosen to advance to the finals, which will be on Tuesday, July 17. The event is co-sponsored by Euclid Beverage, the dental practice of Dr. Ed Monroe, WALS-102 FM, and Starved Rock Lodge.

Daughenbaugh, a resident of the Illinois Valley, captured the title of Miss Illinois Galaxy early in 2007 and will compete on an international level at the Miss Galaxy Pageant in Orlando, FL July 17-22.
